Swindon Wildcats have signed Berkshire Bees forward Vanya Antonov on a deal running until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old British forward arrives in Swindon after an agreement between the Wildcats and Bees was reached, resulting in Antonov being granted an immediate release from his contract by his former club on Friday afternoon.

So far this season, Antonov ranks third in the Bees’ scoring charts, amassing 32 points in 28 games.

‘He’ll add some firepower to our offence’

Having most recently been a member of the Bees roster, Antonov has previously spent time with Basingstoke Bison and Streatham Redhawks in the NIHL 1 South.

He also was a member of the Coventry Blaze roster during the 2021 EIHL Series.

On his new addition, Wildcats head coach Aaron Nell said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be adding a player to our line-up of Vanya’s calibre at this stage of the season.

“Swindon fans will know how good he is, and he’ll add some firepower to our offence.

“He’s a smooth skater with a good shot, and I’m excited to see him in our team for the second half of the season.”

The club have confirmed that Antonov will make his debut against Sheffield Steeldogs on Saturday 11 January.
