Holders Belfast Giants and last year’s finalists Guildford Flames are out of the Challenge Cup after the semi final line up was confirmed.

The Giants were shutout for the second time against Cardiff as their defence of the title ended, going down 4-0 on the night and 5-0 on aggregate following goals from Stephen Dixon, Sam Duggan, Joey Martin and Josh Batch.

It means Devils, who won the competition in 2015 and 2017, will face Nottingham Panthers for a place in the final, which will be held in Cardiff on Sunday 8th March.

Panthers took care of a resilient Guildford and although they lost 5-3 on the night, they won 8-6 over the two legs despite a late push by Paul Dixon’s side to make it a more nervy finale.

Sheffield Steelers also made their way through and progressed to a two-legged last four tie after they overcame Manchester Storm with a 3-3 draw on the night, but going through 8-5 on aggregate to book their place.

They will now face Glasgow Clan, who went through last week, beating top seeds Dundee Stars 4-1 in the second leg and winning 5-2 over the two games.
