Braehead Clan have confirmed the signing of forward Callum Boyd.
The 22-year-old has spent the last two seasons at Edinburgh Capitals, where he made 96 Elite League appearances after stepping up from the SNL.
Head Coach Ryan Finnerty said: “We saw a lot of Callum with Edinburgh in the last couple of years and I loved his energy. Richard Hartmann was always talking positively about him and said he’s very coachable.
“I think he brings that energy and has a robust style, which we need in the fourth line. He’ll play with some good players as well.
“The kid’s got skill and a lot of it comes from hard work and he was a pain to play against and played to the last second in a tough situation in Edinburgh.
“He’s a local guy and Gareth (Chalmers) and I have spoken about getting some local talent in for the future.
“Callum’s an unknown quantity and giving him an opportunity he’ll take it and run with it.
“I’m excited to get to work with him and usually if you can’t stand coming up against certain players, it means he’s doing his job and every game he played against us, he was that player.”
Boyd is Clan’s third new addition to the roster, following on from Craig Peacock and Daniel Åhsberg, and seventh overall so far.
Clan’s Director of Hockey and Operations Gareth Chalmers added: “Callum has impressed us during the last two seasons with Edinburgh – he’s someone that has really caught our attention.
“His game is exactly what we thought we lacked last season and we’ll be looking for the same from him in a Clan jersey.
“We had the opportunity to sign Callum two years ago before he signed for Edinburgh, however his move to the Capitals has allowed him to gain valuable ice time and showcase his talent.”
