Guildford Flames‘ Head Coach Paul Dixon was pleased to see his team bounce back with a victory over Bracknell Bees after a heavy home defeat against Telford Tigers.

Flames were crushed 6-2 by the Tigers, but a Ben Campbell (above) hat-trick was the highlight of a much-improved showing on the way to an 8-4 success against the Bees.

Dixon said: “I thought on Saturday for the first period we were good.

“Early in the second we probably should have been a couple of goals up but, as we’ve struggled to do early this season, we just couldn’t score to make those chances count and play with the lead.

“It came back to hurt us when Telford scored so many so quickly. That little run for them was definitely the most crucial minute or so of the match, and there was no recovery from there.

“On Sunday the most glaring positive was that we finally scored some goals, and the guys we need to put up points for us managed to be a big part of that.

“We can’t get eight every night, but we need to be able to rely on a roughly consistent number that is higher than where we’ve been on some nights so far in the opening games of the schedule.

“Picking up the offense and collecting the win is a really encouraging way to head into a week of training.”
