Great Britain Women U18 fell to a second defeat at the international tournament in Budapest as Poland cruised to an 11-0 victory.

The result was Poland’s second win of the competition after they beat Spain yesterday.

GB are using this week as preparation for next January’s World Championship (Division 1B) tournament in Poland.

Head Coach Cheryl Smith said: “It was another tough game for the girls but they didn’t let their heads drop.

“The mistakes we made yesterday, we did not make today. We know what we need to work on and we have good time to do that.

“We knew it was going to be a hard tournament and this only highlights to the younger players where they need to be to compete on the international stage.

“We have used a number of girls from our U16 squad, with a number of our overseas players unavailable.

“This is about long-term development and it won’t happen overnight, but we are building in the right direction.

“As many of them are so young their hockey sense is very raw at the moment but, as happened last year, we know we need to get them to have an understanding of the basic fundamentals ahead of the World Championship in January.”

GB play their final game of the tournament tomorrow when they face Spain.
