The Guildford Flames have signed their final defenceman of the offseason, entering a one-year agreement with Jordan Klimek.

The 26-year-old arrives in the Elite League on the cusp of his fifth season as a professional, joining from Hungarian outfit DEAC.

He notched 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) in 48 Erste Liga appearances last term, his first campaign outside North America.

“Jordan is a guy that can handle all kinds of different situations all over the ice, including helping out in the offensive zone, and we think he is a really good fit with what we already have in place,” said Guildford head coach Paul Dixon.

“He has four full seasons of pro experiences on both sides of the ocean. Between his ability and experience despite his relatively young age, we are very much looking forward to his debut when the season kicks off.”

Before making the switch to DEAC for 2021-22, Klimek spent three seasons in the ECHL and registered 36 points (15 goals, 21 assists) in 136 appearances for the Kansas City Mavericks and South Carolina Stingrays.

He enjoyed a sterling career at the collegiate between 2014 and 2018, accumulating 43 points (four goals, 39 assists) in 157 NCAA appearances for Northern Michigan University. In 2015-16, the 5-foot-11 skater was named to the WCHA’s All-Academic Team.

Klimek joins Michael Crocock, Bradley Lalonde, Kyle Locke, Ben O’Connor, and Alex Yuill on Guildford’s blueline and is the Flames’ 19th signing of the summer.
