Head Coach Slava Koulikov said: “Welds had a great season and I’m really happy he has signed with us for the next two years.

“He’s the type of player that every team needs, being a great two-way centre man, who plays for the team every time he is on the ice.

“Welds proved last year he can play on any line and came up with some big big goals for the team.

“I’m confident he can continue at the level he has set himself next season and help the team compete every game.”

Weldon added: “Peterborough is like home now – it is really like a big family.

“I’ve been given a great opportunity to sign a two-year contract, which is good for me and the club to build for the future.

“The fans are excellent in Peterborough their passion and loyalty is amazing. I look forward to hitting the ice and playing at a high level to compete for silverware.”
