Fife Flyers have secured the services of forward Josh Scoon for another season.
The 25-year-old has seen his opportunities grow throughout his time with Fife in the Elite League, including last season when he was awarded with a regular spot on the Flyers’ third line.
Scoon said “I’m very excited going into my eighth season with the club, especially with the new teams joining the league and the reshuffling of the conferences.
“I think it will add to the existing rivalries and the overall excitement around the league.
“I really enjoyed my extra responsibilities to play regularly last season. At the end of the day we are all here to play hockey and to do that regularly was great for me personally.
“It helps your preparation and routine when you know you are going to be playing so you’re totally focused and not second guessing yourself.
“From a team point of view we are obviously looking to bring home our first silverware of the Elite League era in Fife.
“We have gone close in both the conference and the play-offs, but never quite managed to get our hands on the prize. I’m hoping this will be the season.
“From a personal point of view I’m looking to build on my increased ice time from last season and keep improving and helping the team however I can.
“I know I will have to work hard and I’m not going to take anything for granted.”
Assistant coach Jeff Hutchins added: “Josh stepped up this past year and was rewarded with more ice time as the year went on.
“He was selfless and did everything that was asked of him. He earned the respect of his teammates and became a popular figure in the dressing room.
“His effort in training week in and out translated into the games. We will continue to work on refining his game over the coming season, we are very happy to be able to work with him again.”
