The Belfast Giants saw their winning streak ended at the six-game mark with a defeat versus the Nottingham Panthers.
Belfast started the week with an impressive win over the Manchester Storm to close the gap at the top of the Elite League but were unable to overcome the Panthers while short benched.
In a bid to extend their streak, the Giants raced to a 2-0 lead in the first period versus the Storm but were almost knocked off their stride in the middle frame. However, their quality eventually tolled in a 5-2 win.
“There were parts of the game that I didn’t like, it was a pretty sloppy first period from us,” explained head coach Adam Keefe. “I liked our performance in the second period but then we gave [the Storm] some life at the very end. I thought the third period was back-and-forth: I didn’t mind it.”

The Giants streak was then ended on Saturday [13 November], with the Panthers winning 5-4 in Nottingham.
Elsewhere in the Elite League, the Glasgow Clan fell to consecutive defeats to the Fife Flyers and Sheffield Steelers.
Also of note: the fixture list for the Challenge Cup quarter-finals has been finalised, with the Manchester Storm and Glasgow Clan eliminated from the competition after the group stage.
