Guildford Flames have confirmed that Austin Glover has returned as an injury reserve cover.

The 28-year-old forward initially joined the Surrey-based outfit in the 2023/24 season from Ligue Magnus side Anglet as cover for Kobe Walker.

He made 25 appearances during his first spell for the Flames, scoring four goals and registering 12 assists.

However, Glover suffered an injury and required surgery which ended his time at the club, before he returned home to link up with Long Lake Hockey League side Watrous Winterhawks.

The Gloves are off once again

Born in Saskatchewan, Glover spent the majority of his early playing career in his native country, featuring for the likes of Kelowna Rockets, Prince Albert Raiders and Red Deer Rebels.

He continued his development at the University of British Columbia from 2017 until 2022, before making his professional debut for Anglet a year later.

Glover returns to Guildford Flames as cover for Jake Coughler, who continues to recover from a serious injury he sustained in a match against Dundee Stars in October.

On the re-signing of Glover, Flames head coach Paul Dixon said: “Austin joined in October last season as Injured reserve cover after we had a rough start and he was a very impactful in helping us get the season turned around.

“Unfortunately, in a cruel ironic twist he eventually ended up on injured reserve with a pretty severe injury, and it was a big hit to our lineup at that time. Now he returns again as injury reserve cover while Jake Coughler remains sidelined.

“He was a great fit for us last year, and we know he is going to slot in well here again and we are excited to see him return to the lineup.”

Austin Glover will go into contention to make his second debut for Guildford Flames in their next fixture away at Nottingham Panthers in the Elite League on Saturday evening.
