Canadian forward Taylor MacDougall has signed a two-year deal with Edinburgh Capitals.

The 26-year-old attended the University of New Brunswick from 2011 to 2016, where he combined playing hockey with business and law studies.

He will continue his education over the next two seasons at Heriot Watt University.

Capitals’ Player/Coach Michal Dobron said: “I want a team with skill and size.

“MacDougall is a great two-way forward who will win us the puck – he’s a face off specialist and will dominate physically.

“He’s going to be an important part of my line-up. He comes to us straight from winning a CIS University championship at New Brunswick, his second with the team in his five years there. He will bring a winning mentality.”

MacDougall added: “I have a bit of Scottish lineage – my Mum is a MacDonald and her grandmother was Scottish.

“When the Caps reached out I was intrigued. I began to research the city and immediately fell in love with it.

“The more I heard about the team and the league the more interested I became.

“Speaking with Scott Neil he was sincere in wanting to establish a winning club in Edinburgh. I want to help contribute to that.

“I’m very proud to be a part of the organisation and look forward to making a difference on the ice, and within the community by meeting and trying to continue to grow an already loyal and passionate fanbase.

“I pride myself on being a very competitive player with strong intangibles. I like to play against the other teams’ top players and provide secondary scoring in the process.”
