Braehead Clan held on for the points in a tense game that saw them edge Milton Keynes Lightning in a 4-3 contest in Glasgow.

Clan went one up when Ryan Potulny got the tip on a Brendan Brooks shot to divert it past MK goalie Miika Wiikman.

Tyler Shattock added a second when he tapped home at the far post after Craig Peacock delivered a low pass across the crease to find his team-mate.

Lightning got on the board themselves with a low sweeping shot from Guillaume Doucet after he was set up by Denny Kearney.

But Brooks restored the two-goal lead with a well-hit one-timer that flew past Wiikman as the home side went 3-1 up before the first break.

Potulny got his second of the game as he swept away a low pass from Mike Embach to put them 4-1 ahead after Matt Nickerson and Jacob Doty came to blows.

But Lightning got another back shorthanded as Kyle Essery surged down the right, cut inside and finished through the five-hole to cut Braehead’s lead again.

Francis Verrault-Paul added another to bring MK to within one to make it an edgy finale and although Doty dropped the gloves with Kevin King, the Clan held on for the points.
