Russian forward Yevgeni Fyodorov has signed for Edinburgh Capitals.

The 35-year-old, who was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 2000, has played over 700 games in the top tier of hockey in Russia.

Fyodorov said: “I have heard the Capitals have built a strong squad over the summer.

“The chance to experience ice hockey in the UK in a city such as Edinburgh, and play in the Elite League alongside my compatriot Pavel Vorobyev, these were all key factors in my signing.

“I’m excited to come to the club and I want to make a big impact on the ice. I look forward to arriving in the city next month.”

Player/Coach Michal Dobron added: “We were offered Fyodorov and took time to research him as a player and individual.

“Scott (Neil) and I agreed he sounded a great addition. His experience in one of the top leagues in the world mean he is another player who has the ability to make a big impact at the Capitals.

“He will fit in well with what we are building at the club, and having Vorobyev already can only help.

“He’s a determined player who will play hard and who can play in any position on my front line.

“The Capitals are attracting players of a high calibre to the club this summer – this is another hugely important signing for our club.”
