Braehead Clan defenseman Zach Sullivan sees no reason why his team can’t go unbeaten in their remaining games of the season.
Clan’s 2-1 win at Belfast Giants was their second Elite League victory in a row after last week’s 4-2 home success against Nottingham Panthers.
Sullivan (above) thinks Clan can keep their run going and snatch the Gardiner Conference title to earn themselves a top seeding for the play-offs.
“We’ve had unbeaten runs before so we know we’re capable of it as a team,” said Sullivan.
“With the fans behind us, as they’ve always been, I believe we can do it and clinch the Conference.
“We went to Dundee a couple of weeks ago and after putting so much into the game, to come away with nothing left us shattered at the end. I hope the fans saw the real us again last weekend.
“It was good to get that monkey off our back last Sunday and it’s brought to confidence back into the room, which stands us in good stead for the rest of the season.”
Fellow blueliner Jamie Fritsch says he is looking forward to visiting Dundee Stars on Sunday, with the Fife Flyers in his sights.
Clan are 7/5 with Ladbrokes to win in Dundee as they bid to close the eight point gap to the Flyers in the Conference standings.
With four games in hand on their rivals, Clan have no margin for error over the final games of the season.
Fritsch said: “It’s on us to get the wins in our remaining Conference games and get within reach of Fife. We’re looking at it that way and we’re aiming to finish the season on a high.
“Winning the Conference is one of our goals for the season and it’s about bearing down and getting the points.
“We went to Dundee a couple of weeks ago and they play a good system that has brought them success this season in games.
“It was a tough game up there and we were disappointed to leave with a loss. It’s tougher to take when it comes down to the little things.
“But it’s an exciting game for us and we’re all looking forward to it.”
