Top Scottish prospect Jordan Buesa has joined NIHL North leaders Solway Sharks on a two-way contract from the Elite League’s Braehead Clan.
The 16-year-old forward joined Clan this summer as their first ever apprentice and has iced in pre-season, Challenge Cup and Elite League games for the club at the start of this season.
Buesa, who was named in the Great Britain U20 squad earlier this week, will still train with Clan but will be with the Moralee D1 club at weekends so he can further his development.
Clan Hockey and Operations Director Gareth Chalmers said: “As part of the apprenticeship scheme we’ve built for Jordan, the plan was always for him to join Solway on a two-way deal where he can gain valuable experience and further ice time.
“Jordan will continue to train with us during the week, travel to Dumfries on Friday and play for the Sharks over the weekend.
“We will be speaking with Sharks’ boss Martin Grubb on a regular basis and when necessary will bring him back into our line-up.”
Grubb added: “Jordan is a young player who I’ve known for a long time and he has a big future in the game.
“He has done very well so far with the Clan and has impressed people with his speed, skill and desire to succeed.
“Now it is imperative that he can continue to develop by playing games and we are happy to be part of his development.
“This shows the ongoing partnership between ourselves and Braehead is one that will benefit British players and we are delighted that Ryan (Finnerty) and Gareth have trusted us to play such a big part in Jordan’s progression and we look forward to having him with us.”
