Ice Hockey UK officials Andy Dalton and Ally Flockhart are two of the linesmen for next week’s Under-20 World Championship tournament in Dumfries.
The six-team tournament involves hosts Great Britain, along with Estonia, Japan, Korea, Netherlands and Romania, and gets under way on Sunday.
Dalton and Flockhart are two of 11 UK officials who will officiate at World Championship tournaments in the 2017-18 season.
Flockhart has been selected for IIHF tournaments for the last five years and was on the line for the 2015 Elite League Challenge Cup final between Sheffield Steelers and Cardiff Devils.
“This will be my third home tournament and it makes it even more special,” said Flockhart. Dumfries is a great venue with some of the best off-ice officials in the country.
“Having already had the privilege of doing a IIHF tournament in Dumfries, I am sure this one will be even better.
“A lot of work goes into setting these up and hats off to all at IHUK for making this happen. I am looking forward to sharing the ice with some of the best officials from around the world.”
Dalton is one of the UK’s most experienced officials and starting officiated in the juniors back in 1998 before working his way up to the top flight of British ice hockey.
He has been a IIHF linesman since 2003 and has worked 12 tournaments in that time.
“I’m looking forward to being in Dumfries and being able to share my knowledge and experience with the new generation of IIHF and IHUK officials,” he said.
“My best moment in officiating would have to be working the gold-medal game of the 2016 Under-18 World Championship between Sweden and Finland and also working final qualification.”
The U20 World Championship Division II Group A runs from and Sunday 10th to Saturday 16th December at Dumfries Ice Bowl.
