Braehead Clan have signed Canadian forward Stefan Della Rovere from HC Fassa in Italy.

The 26-year-old was drafted by the NHL’s Washington Capitals in 2008 and went on to play in the AHL with the Peoria Rivermen between 2010 and 2013.

Clan boss Ryan Finnerty said: “We feel Stefan can add a physical element and allow us to shuffle our group within to fit our needs when we’re healthy.

“I like the fact that we have injury cover for Jay (Rosehill) and when he’s back we have competition for roles on the roster.

“We’ve played short for a number of weeks now, so just to having a full line-up will be nice to work with.”
