Canadian forward Chris Gerrie has been released from his contract with the Dundee Stars, the club has confirmed.
The 26-year-old recorded four points (two goals, two assists) in 19 appearances for the Stars, whom he joined from the Guildford Flames in the summer.
Gerrie’s best performance for Dundee came in a heavy loss versus his former club on October 23, when he provided a goal and an assist in a 6-3 defeat on the road.
He notched 34 points (13 goals, 21 assists) in 54 appearances for the Flames in his first full season as a professional in 2021-22.
Before his move to the Elite League, Gerrie was most well-known for his play at the collegiate level in Canada and the USA.
Through three seasons with Mount Royal University, the Edmonton-born forward scored 46 points (19 goals, 27 assists) in 68 outings in USports. He recorded nine points (three goals, six assists) in 31 games played for Michigan Tech in the NCAA.
Gerrie has two appearances for the ECHL’s Wichita Thunder to his name.
In a statement, a club spokesperson wrote: “Everyone at the Dundee Stars would like to thank Chris for his time with the club and wish him all the best going forward.”
Analysis: Dundee Stars part company with versatile attacker Chris Gerrie
Chris Gerrie and the Dundee Stars were meant to be a match made in heaven, but their relationship didn’t work out.
The Canadian inked a one-year contract with the Stars after a successful rookie season with the Guildford Flames and was pencilled into a top-six role with his new club.

However, he fell flat in Dundee. Gerrie had plenty of chances to replicate his offensive production from last term but just didn’t click with his new teammates.
In the aftermath of Gerrie’s departure, head coach Jeff Mason must turn his attention to recruiting a top-six contributor to help the Stars improve their 3-8-2 record in the Elite League.
Time is of the essence for Dundee.
