Cardiff Devils took a big step towards claiming their first Elite League title after recording a pair of victories at Belfast Giants over the weekend.
The Devils staged a remarkable comeback in Friday’s game, recovering from 3-0 down to win 4-3 – Mark Richardson, Sean Bentivoglio, Joey Haddad and Patrick Asselin got the goals.
Andrew Hotham’s third period strike sealed a 3-2 success in Saturday’s fixture to leave the Devils seven points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.
Third-placed Sheffield Steelers are now just a point behind the Giants after securing two wins from their weekend double-header against Manchester Storm.
The Steelers triumphed 3-1 on home ice and followed up with a 4-3 overtime victory in the reverse fixture – Jace Coyle bagged the winner in Altrincham.
Corey Cowick hit a hat-trick for Braehead Clan in their 8-5 win at home to Fife Flyers.
The Flyers completed a miserable weekend with two further defeats against Dundee Stars, losing 4-3 on home ice and 4-2 on the road.
