Player/Coach Riley Emmerson has issued a rallying call to Edinburgh Capitals fans ahead of their home game against Fife Flyers on Sunday.

Capitals have won just once in 2016 and are outsiders with Ladbrokes for tonight’s game against the resurgent Flyers, but Emmerson is hoping his team can cause an upset.

He said, “It looks like we are going to have a big travelling fanbase arrive at Murrayfield on Sunday, but although we will be up against the odds on the ice our fans are loud and proud and we want to put on a great performance for them.

“It is a big task but despite being down in numbers we have continued to play with heart and spirit.

“The League has changed dramatically this season, with clubs carrying up to 17 imports as injury cover, it has been difficult to compete against teams with that depth over the stretch.

“Out of all the teams, we needed a bit of luck on the injury front but appear to have got the worst.

“We are going to adopt a bit of the Wimbledon ‘Crazy Gang’ mentality during the run-in and hope to cause an upset on the way.

“Brandon Thompson will play this Sunday and I am hoping the team can defy the odds and deliver for the fans.”
