Sheffield Steeldogs face a tough weekend EPL double-header as they look to keep up their impressive recent form.
Steeldogs travel to MK Lightning on Saturday, before returning to home ice the following day to face Guildford Flames.
A run of 11 wins from their last 15 games has put Steeldogs within touching distance of the top half of the table, with last week’s 2-1 victory at table-topping Basingstoke Bison perhaps their most impressive result to date.
Captain Ben Morgan said: “Basingstoke have a very strong team and can play physically when they need to, we were expecting that to be honest.
“We’ve been taking leads early in games recently and again we led going into the first break, building on a strong performance.
“We’ve been asked to stay disciplined, work hard in the right areas at the right times, and we can turn teams over.
“Hopefully the rest of the league is looking at us now thinking that these are not surprise results. We are capable and you see most weekends we are now turning teams over.”
Swindon Wildcats host Telford Tigers on Saturday aiming to kickstart a strong finish to the season.
Wildcats currently trail Bison by nine points, but with a game in hand and three matches still to play against the league leaders they could yet force themselves into the title reckoning.
Forward Jonas Hoog commented: “We had a rough start after Christmas, myself as well, but now we’re back on it.
“It has been three weeks since Christmas and now we start playing well again. Everyone feels we can play better and the whole team played well on Saturday.
“We stuck to our system and that’s what got us the win against Manchester. We’re going to build on that and get more confidence and play our game, so it is going to be even better.
“We will try and win as many games as we can and see what comes to us.”
