Basingstoke Bison are the new EPL champions after producing two power-packed performances to claim the silverware.

A stylish display at Telford Tigers saw Bison run out 5-2 winners and they followed up with a 5-4 home victory against Swindon Wildcats.

Ciaran Long (2), Tomas Karpov (2) and Alan Lack were on target against the Wildcats to help Bison record their first title success since 1993.

Milan Baranyk scored twice for Peterborough in their 5-2 road win against the Wildcats and he repeated the feat as the Phantoms sealed a 4-1 victory at Bracknell Bees.

Guildford Flames won 6-2 at home to Manchester, but they failed to follow up in the reverse fixture as Mark Thomas grabbed his second of the night to secure a 5-4 overtime success for the Phoenix.

MK Lightning also had a mixed weekend, winning 11-3 on home ice against Hull Pirates before falling to a 4-2 defeat at Telford.

Pirates fared much better at home, winning 6-5 after overtime against the Bees and 6-3 against Sheffield Steeldogs.

Tom Squires (2) topped the scoring for the Steeldogs in their 4-2 victory at home to the Bees.
