Leigh Jamieson’s goal with just over four seconds to play snatched a dramatic 4-3 overtime victory for MK Lightning over EPL leaders Telford Tigers on Saturday.
Lightning came down to earth with a bump the following day with a 5-1 defeat at Hull Pirates – Andrej Themar (3) topped the scoring for the home team.
The Tigers stay top of the table after recording a 2-1 overtime success against Swindon Wildcats – Sam Zajac scored the decider.
Sheffield Steeldogs won 4-1 at home to Manchester Phoenix and sealed a four-point weekend with a remarkable comeback at Peterborough Phantoms.
The home team led 4-0 inside the first five minutes, but the Steeldogs battled back to 4-4 to send the game to overtime.
After a scoreless extra session the teams embarked on a penalty shoot-out which was settled by Cole Shudra’s cool finish.
That result completed a miserable weekend for the Phantoms who also lost 5-3 at Swindon.
Basingstoke Bison picked up a pair of victories, winning 3-1 at home to Hull and by the same scoreline at Bracknell Bees.
Guildford Flames lost 4-3 at home to Bracknell, but recovered to secure a 4-2 road success against Manchester.
