Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, are delighted to confirm the signing of 24-year-old Canadian forward Brady Ramsay.
Ramsay, in his fourth professional season, started the 2017/18 season with the defending Elite Ice Hockey League play-off champions the Sheffield Steelers.
Ramsay describes himself as “an energy guy, someone who is defensively responsible and can play the penalty kill when called upon.”
Up until this season Ramsay had played his previous three professional seasons in North America, playing last season with the Chicago Blackhawks ECHL affiliate the Indy Fuel. Previously Brady spent a season-and-a-half with East Coast Hockey League outfit Tulsa Oilers, having begun his pro career with short stints at Stockton Thunder and Ontario Reign.
Speaking about the addition of Ramsay, assistant coach Jeff Hutchins said “We feel Brady will complement the type of team we have this year. He is a young energetic team guy that can play in all situations and positions. We have had very positive references on him which was key in deciding who to bring in. We have a special group here and we wanted to make sure we brought in a guy that could add value with little disruption to the current team dynamic.
“We thought it was important to bring in a forward as it will allow James (Isaacs) to move back on D if we have any issues on defence.
“We are conscious that we have a lot games coming up in the 2nd half and we feel the time was right to bring an extra body to cover ourselves down the stretch.
“We are happy to have him on board and start working with him.”
Ramsay, who will wear #36, arrived in from Calgary today and will be in the line up for this Saturday’s Gardiner Conference match up against the Edinburgh Capitals.
