Braehead Clan forward Tristan Harper believes this weekend could be a definitive one for the club ahead of two big games.
Clan host Nottingham Panthers on Saturday before travelling along the M8 to take on Edinburgh Capitals at Murrayfield on Sunday.
Harper believes there’s a possibility fans could see a similar game to the one against Cardiff Devils last weekend.
He said: “This could be a season-changer for us. Nottingham are one of the top teams in the league and it’s a crucial two points for us to go and get.
“If the forwards and the defence are on their game, then it could come down to the goaltenders like it did in a way in the Cardiff game last week.
“Both guys were outstanding on that occasion, so this time we’re looking to make a good start and can catch their goalie cold by hitting them with a few early chances, which could lead to goals.
“We really need these points and that shows just how important this weekend is for us.”
Sunday brings a rematch with the Capitals in Edinburgh following last Sunday’s narrow 2-1 Clan win in Glasgow, in which Harper scored the opening goal for Braehead.
While he was pleased to get on the scoresheet, he has warned of the threat the Caps carry and believes the mentality should be a good one among the team.
“The goal on Sunday was my first of the season and it was a huge confidence booster for me personally,” said Harper. “It’s always great to contribute to the team with the guys.
“Looking ahead, if we can get the points on Saturday then it’s doubly important we don’t slip up on Sunday when we go to Edinburgh.
“They are a team who are a big threat to anybody this season and they’ve shown that with some of the results they’ve been getting.
“We just have to go in with a strong positive mentality this weekend and hopefully we can come away with all the points.”
