Jacob Johnston will return to the Edinburgh Capitals line-up next season to complete the second year of his two-year contract.
In addition to icing for the Elite League club he will also continue his MBA studies at Heriot Watt University.
Johnston was one of the highest scoring ‘D’ men last term, scoring 11 goals with 21 assists in 37 games before injury cut his season short.
Now back to full fitness Johnston is ready to make a big impact as a key player in the Capitals’ rearguard.
He said “I am excited to be back in Edinburgh. The way last season ended was disappointing for everybody, and I wanted to be sure that the organisation was heading in the right direction to ensure something like that will not happen again.
“It looks like a solid and competitive team is being put together, and I’m confident that this season will be much different than the last.
“I’ve been impressed greatly by the summer recruitment at the club, it’s going well. The players that have committed to Edinburgh will be strong additions to the club.
“I’ve heard great things about each and every one of them. I can’t wait to start playing alongside them.”
Player/Coach Michal Dobron added: “It’s great to have Jacob back with the Capitals. I know he is very offensive minded, but also defends well.
“He will bring experience to the line-up and help our new players settle in quickly. It is another good signing for the fans too, I know they will be happy he is back.
“I like how our defense is shaping up. This is another very important addition to the line up.”
The Capitals have also confirmed they’ve agreed to suspend forward Paul Zanette’s contract as he awaits the outcome of his doping case.
