New import Kim Miettinen is looking forward to chasing a third successive NIHL North title with Telford Tigers 1 this season. The 23-year-old, who was unveiled as a surprise addition to Telford’s squad this week, joined his new team-mates for training last night (Thursday).
Miettinen won a NIHL league and play-off double with Blackburn Hawks in 2016, before repeating that feat with Solway Sharks just a few months ago.
The defenceman will go straight into Tom Watkin’s squad for this weekend’s games against Blackburn, as the Tigers look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
Tom Watkins, Tigers head coach said: “Great to bring in an a guy with that winning pedigree and a winning attitude. He will for sure add to the group in a positive way. I’m looking forward to seeing him on the ice with his new teammates tonight
The Finn started this season without a club after leaving Solway at the end of the previous campaign, and is happy to make a return to Moralee Conference action.
He added: “I am really thankful to Tom for giving me this opportunity and I’m excited to get back onto the ice in the UK to try and help Tigers challenge for honours”
Telford Tigers 1 host Blackburn Hawks at Telford Ice Rink on Saturday night (5.30pm) before making the trip to face Whitley Warriors on Sunday (5pm).
Telford Tigers 2, meanwhile, face Deeside Dragons 2 in North Wales on Saturday (5.45pm), ahead of Sunday’s visit of Blackburn Hawks 2 to Telford (6pm).
