Goalie Mac Curruth finds himself in fans’ bad books following Cardiff Devils’ penalty shootout win over Belfast Giants.
The Salt Lake City native conceded four goals in the first period of the away fixture against the Giants.
This garnered some stick off Giants fans who joked he took a ‘time-out’ during this period.
He was to get his revenge however as he saved Slater Doggett’s effort in the shootout to win the game for the Devils.
Following this result the 6ft 2in goalie skated over to the plexi-glass and threw himself into it, a trademark celebration of his.
Some Giants’ fans didn’t take too kindly to this as the supporters behind the glass appeared to be children.
Curruth showed the same ice-cold composure he displayed in the shootout however, tweeting this.
His side won’t care how he celebrated as he made 38 saves in regulation time and four in the shootout.
It’s Raining…Chocolate Bars?
Curruth was involved in more unusual action however inspiring another unique celebration, this time from fans.
Evan Mosey had asked Steelers fans to bring chocolate bars and throw them onto the ice.
A trend started by Devils fans for Curruth, who is a close friend of Mosey’s.
The Steelers said in a statement on their website: “Evan was certainly impressed by the incredible turn out and charities certainly benefited from your chocolate donations.
“The club and the Arena wish to confirm that this was just a one-time event and that we will not be carrying this on in future games.”
Whether fans listen to this or not remains to be seen as the event did catch the attention of a very famous friend.
Fans joked that this could be the start of a sponsorship deal by the chocolate giants in response to this.
The club can’t dwell on this too much as they face Manchester Storm and the in-form Glasgow Clan this weekend.
As they look to continue to solidify their position atop the Elite League standings.
