Tom Watkins will emphasise the importance of momentum to his Telford Tigers team ahead of this weekend’s EPL games against Swindon Wildcats and Guildford Flames.
Telford have lost just one of their last seven games – despite undergoing a restructuring of their squad, with a string of players leaving the club in recent weeks.
Wednesday’s 6-3 win over Sheffield Steeldogs left the Tigers eight points clear at the top of the table and Watkins is determined to retain the winning feeling.
“It’s always good for a team to have that run of results and the confidence that winning brings,” said Watkins.
“Of course, it’s an unsettled side at the moment, so winning certainly makes the dressing room a happier place to come. It means you go into games with a more upbeat feeling around the squad.”
The changes to the Tigers squad have seen forward Lubomir Korhon sign for the club this week, with his debut set to happen this weekend, pending paperwork.
However, both Swindon and Guildford have also undergone changes in recent weeks, ironically with former Tigers players Phil Hill and Michal Satek arriving in both camps.
“Playing a side with a changed squad makes us unsure of what their line-up will look like and how we can set up against them,” added Watkins.
“Swindon especially have lost a few players to the GB U20 team, so with both sides it will mean a lot of decisions being made during the game.”
