Mosey: Reber sold me on Fife fever

Latest Fife Flyers addition Charlie Mosey says former Kirkcaldy star Matt Reber sold him on a move to the club.

The 25-year-old is on a try-out contract to start the Elite League season and arrives from Elmira Jackals in the ECHL.

But Reber’s glowing recommendation and critique from his own two-year stay at the club was more than enough for Mosey to go along with.

“When the team first contacted me, I immediately reached out to Matt, a fellow Minnesotan and asked about his experience with the Flyers for two seasons,” Mosey said.

“He told me that he really enjoyed his time spent in Kirkcaldy. That was more than enough to get me hooked on the organisation, so I’m glad that everything worked out.

“As for what I can do, I consider myself a two-way forward who sees the ice well and is extremely versatile plus I’m comfortable playing any position and can be relied upon in any situation.

“I’m hard-working and like using my speed to open up ice and create scoring chances for my line mates, who I’m eager to meet and get the season underway.”

Mosey is also a former team-mate of recent Fife signings Ian Young and Andy Iles at Elmira, with whom he played 56 games last year, scoring five times and assisting in a further 15.

Flyers head coach Todd Dutiaume is looking forward to working with him and says he’ll bring another dimension to his team.

He said: “Charlie comes to us initially on a try out contract and having spoken to Matt myself, he gave him a glowing reference and firmly believes that he has the capability to impress.

“Charlie’s a good skater who will bring a much welcomed work ethic to our line up and takes pride in the intangibles he brings to a line up. I hope our fans will give him a warm welcome.”
