Manchester Phoenix have signed experienced Finnish defender Joni Tuominen.

The 33-year-old has played most of his career in the top league in Finland, before joining German side Dresdner Eislöwen 2014/15. Last year Tuominen iced for STS Sanok in Poland.

Phoenix Director of Hockey Tony Hand said: “Joni will bring a great deal of experience to the defence and will be one of the better import ‘D’ men in the league.

“The team is taking shape now with one import to come in and the final British players. It’s been a tough summer, but we’re getting in shape for our first game in Fylde next week.”
