Paisley Pirates host North Ayrshire Wild on Sunday buoyed by their 3-1 success at the home of the reigning SNL champions Kirkcaldy Kestrels last weekend.
Pirates’ victory saw them retain their 100% record and top spot in the league to leave Head Coach Ian Turley a happy man.
“I was delighted that we kept calm and stuck to the gameplan, just as we had done the previous weekend when we came back against Dundee Comets,” said Turley (above).
“It gives us confidence to know we can play for 60 minutes, and it puts a wee bit of pressure on our opponents as they know they won’t get any respite from us over the course of the game.”
“There were times against the Kestrels when we were under pressure – you have to expect that when you’re playing against good teams.
“What was pleasing was the way we dealt with those situations and came out the other side with a win.
“Our young team is getting better with every game and I’m pleased with the way the newcomers are settling in as if they’ve never played with anyone else.
“Wild have got a good team assembled as they’ve already recorded a win and two draws against good opposition.
“With a couple of former Pirates in their ranks they’ll be desperate to put one over us, but we’re very keen to put on another good performance for our own supporters.”
Aberdeen Lynx face Moray Typhoons on Saturday hoping to follow up last week’s stunning 14-1 Scottish Cup victory over Edinburgh Capitals SNL.
Lynx hit 12 when they visited the Typhoons earlier this season and forward Jack Durkacz is hoping to inflict more damage this weekend.
“This is a game I have looked forward to since I thought of signing for the Lynx,” he told the Aberdeen Evening Express.
“I’m sure their defeat against us will have left a bad taste in their mouth. However, we can’t get complacent and we need to take everything one game at a time.
“Hopefully we can keep the momentum from the win over Edinburgh into this weekend.”
