Paisley Pirates’ boss Ian Turley has called on his players to produce ‘more of the same’ when they host North Ayrshire Wild in the SNL on Sunday.
Pirates came from behind to record a 5-3 victory at Dundee Comets last weekend – a result which left them in third place, two points behind leaders Kirkcaldy Kestrels with a game in hand.
Turley said: “The boys put in the kind of shift last Sunday which I know they’re capable of. Even when we went in at the first break 2-0 behind, I was still very confident as we’d played some great stuff in the first session without reward.
“The message to the players was simple – keep doing what you’re doing, and it’ll come. They kept going for the full 60 minutes and were worthy winners, and I’ll be looking for more of the same when we face North Ayrshire this week.
“I know there’s always a bit of needle when we come together, and I’m not expecting this game to be any different.
“We handed them a two-goal start last time we met, before coming through to win at their place, so while that shows me that the boys have what it takes to keep their heads up, I want them to achieve a similar level of performance, and result, without the early scares.”
“It’s exceptionally tight at the top end of the table, and while we’ve already qualified for the top eight part of the play-offs, we want to finish as high as we possibly can for the sake of getting a slightly easier draw later on, although this year it’s been very difficult almost every week of the season.”
