Sutton Sting have added another trio to their roster as they continue to build for the new NIHL season. Defender Mark Corfield joins from Nottingham Lions, netminder Andy Bagshaw has been snapped up from Sheffield Spartans and Jacob Gamwell makes the step up from the Sting U18 squad.
Coach Ian Johnson was delighted with his new additions: “Mark impressed me at our recent trials and will be a great signing for us, while Jacob gives us more depth to our squad. Andy is a nice kid who works hard on and off the ice. He’s a great netminder and when in form has the ability to match the stats of the best in this league. He certainly pushed my forwards last season and will fit in nicely with our team ethos.” Bagshaw admitted he was delighted to be reunited with former teammate Dmitri Zimozdra and was looking forward to challenging for the starting role.
Sheffield Spartans have announced their first signings of the summer with Nick Manning and Ollie & Will Barron agreeing another season with the club. Spartans have also signed Tom Humphries and Stephen Weeks from Sheffield Senators.
Defenseman Ryan Selwood has joined Solihull Barons from the EPL’s Telford Tigers, while it’s thought Coventry Blaze forward Connor Hubbuck could be on his way to Hobs Moat Road. Barons have also confirmed Andy Whitehouse and Luke Smith have agreed another year. Widnes Wild have signed their first import with Slovakian Filip Supa agreeing a deal, while netminder Tom MacDonald has moved to Wild from Trafford Metros.
In NIHL1 South Danny Hammond has joined Invicta Dynamos from Chelmsford Chieftains. London Raiders have signed JJ Pitchley from Dallas Snipers, while Billy Phillips has agreed another year. Cardiff Devils’ pair Sean Scarborough and Steven Fisher have joined Streatham Redskins.
