Solway returned to winning ways in NIHL1 North (Moralee Conference) with a thrilling 8-6 win over Sutton Sting – Struan Tonnar hit a hat-trick for Sharks.
Scott Ward’s late strike helped Billingham Stars to a 4-3 win at Telford Titans, while Myles Dacres’ effort four minutes from time sealed a 1-1 draw for Blackburn Hawks at Sheffield Spartans. Michael Elder scored twice in Stars’ 4-1 win over a lacklustre Hawks in the KD Flavell & Sons Northern Cup.
Deeside Dragons still lead NIHL2 (Laidler Conference) after an impressive four-point weekend. Chris Jones scored five in a 13-1 win at Blackburn Eagles, while Simon Furnival’s second of the night secured a 5-4 success at home to Solihull Barons. Michael Rose scored three in Nottingham Lions’ 7-5 win over Widnes Wild. Sheffield Senators drew 2-2 with Coventry Blaze, while Hull Jets fell 6-3 at home to Widnes.
NIHL1 South leaders Wightlink enjoyed a three-point weekend with a 4-4 draw at home to Chelmsford Chieftains – Raiders’ Alex Barker hit a hat-trick – and a 4-2 win at Cardiff Devils. London Raiders slumped to a 7-3 loss at Bracknell Hornets, but bounced back with a 2-2 draw at Chelmsford. Invicta Dynamos beat Cardiff 10-0 and followed up with a 5-3 win at Solent & Gosport Devils – Juraj Huska scored three for the visitors.
Manchester Phoenix remain top of the EPL after sharing the spoils in their weekend double header with Guildford Flames. Two Tom Duggan goals helped Flames to a 3-2 home win, but Michal Psurny’s hat-trick saw Phoenix gain revenge in the return with a 7-4 victory. Jonas Hoog hit the winner as Swindon Wildcats beat Bracknell Bees 5-4, while Aku Pekkarinen’s shoot-out winner sealed a 2-1 success in the reverse fixture.
Two Joe Miller goals helped Basingstoke to a 5-2 win against Telford Tigers, but Bison failed to follow up as they lost by the odd goal in nine at Peterborough Phantoms. MK Lightning beat Peterborough 7-4 and sealed a four-point weekend with a 3-2 win at Slough Jets. Sheffield Steeldogs lost 5-3 at home to Slough, but Lubomir Korhon’s hat-trick helped them to a 3-1 win at Telford.
Belfast are the new Elite League leaders. Giants beat Sheffield Steelers 4-2 and followed up with a 7-4 win at Coventry Blaze. Sheffield picked up a couple of wins, beating Dundee Stars 2-1 and Cardiff Devils 6-3 – new-boy Rob Sirianni scored three. Braehead Clan beat Dundee 5-1 and Edinburgh 3-2, while the Capitals also fell 8-5 at Cardiff. Hull Stingrays won 4-1 at Fife Flyers.
In the Challenge Cup Nottingham Panthers won 5-3 at home to Coventry and 6-4 at Hull, while two Nikita Kashirsky goals helped Dundee to a 2-1 win over Fife.
